First, your tour will involve discovering the hidden beauty of Arusha National Park, one of the country’s smallest Protected Areas at about 30 kilometers south-west of the Town of Arusha.
This Park is popular for its riveting wildlife species (including black and white colobus monkeys, hyenas, Cape buffaloes, leopards, hippos, giraffes and bushbucks among others), stunning Momela Lakes, Mount Meru with its jaw-dropping peaks and the vast Ngurdoto Crater extending for 3 kilometers wide. The following morning leave Arusha National Park for Kilimanjaro to explore the Materuni village and waterfalls.
With packed breakfast, wait for pick up from your hotel in Zanzibar and depart for Arusha, on an hour to 1-hour 30mins flight. You will be received warmly by our professional safari guides upon landing and immediately transfer to Arusha National Park by road.
Immediately embark on a guided game drive through different landscapes of this small Tanzanian park which is characterized by abundant views of Black and white colobus monkeys, common warthogs, Defassa waterbucks, hippos, colorful flamingos, duikers, giraffes, blue monkeys and zebras among others.
Also expect occasional views of the elegant Ostriches, African bush elephants, vultures, pelicans, wildebeests and African fish eagles. Although rare spotted, your game drive will be complete with views of spotted hyenas, leopards, lions and jackals. Make time to enjoy your packed lunch and continue with the game viewing adventure. After this riveting wildlife exploration, proceed to Moshi for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast at your Moshi Camp or lodge, depart for the famous Materuni village, a hidden gem nestled at the lower slopes of Mount. Kilimanjaro. Attend briefing from your local guides then embark on the 40 to 50-minutes hike to the bottom of the spectacular Materuni waterfalls. This waterfall is about 90 meters high and while here enjoy a swim in the cool waters at the bottom of the waterfall.
Your visit to this area also involves taking guided walks through the nearby Materuni village to learn about their exceptional way of life and culture. Also visit one of the homesteads where you will learn about the preparation of a typical Chagga meal and even have lunch from the same place.
Enjoy a coffee-filled desert with the organic beverage made in your presence with beautiful songs and dances from the local community members, then a brief stop at the nearby school to interact with learners and teachers. Drive to the Airport of Kilimanjaro to connect to Zanzibar for drop-off at your hotel, continuation of your trip or flight back home.
